Phi Sigma Kappa has a long history of engaging in philanthropic activities throughout our local community. Our fraternity's national charity is the Special Olympics. Every fall, we spend countless hours as a chapter volunteering at Disney World to help ensure the success of the annual Special Olympics event held there. Throughout the rest of the semester various other community service projects keep Phi Sigma Kappa busy helping out. Groups of our brothers participate in several building projects for Habitat for Humanity in the DeLand area. Several times a month, our brothers join in during community garbage clean up projects along road sides and in local parks.
Other organizations that Phi Sigma Kappa donates time towards each year include:
- Boys and Girls Club of America
- Relay for Life
- Chisholm Community Center
- Florida Hospital
- Circle K International
Phi Sigma Kappa has also participated and won both the campus wide Greenfeather Community Service Week and Greek Week in 2007 and 2008. Just this past Thanksgiving Phi Sigma Kappa provided, through generous donations, 104 families a Thanksgiving dinner single handily. We plan on continuing our impressive record in the philanthropy arena in the upcoming academic year.
